This song is about taking a step back and witnessing how all the negativity that we carry manifests itself in our lives in ways that are out of our awareness and control, the ocean of suppressed and unresolved emotion buried in the subconscious, constantly being triggered and controlling our behaviour.
This song is an exploration of those things and looking at different ways of dealing with it.

A weakness seeps to the surface,
Collapse once more beneath my stones
forsaking all I strive to retain
In bitterness and in fear, i dissolve, from the light...i stumble.

I want to swim in higher places...
Looking down from above...
And in an act of desperation...
I am forced into confronting myself...
All of this pain for examination.

Hidden in the shadow...
This darkness I must follow...

Its mark.
Detached and starved of light, my soul has become untouchable
Inside a cage of my own making, and one that i cannot resist
The child inside that was ostracized is now a slave to this cold will
To the blood we crave, we will become the prey
To become the beast that we fear the most seems to be the only way of self defence
The trauma that moves unseen
A victim to this fear
The wounds inside the soul have taken a hold



The poison hidden in the shadow...
Has stripped away all the love...
How long am I to bleed and suffer before my wounds are to heal?
The duality of the heart, come forth,
The acceptance of a cold, dark nature.


In moments of fear and confusion that this world brings upon me,
Do I allow the hate that’s unfolding to dictate my direction?
Is all the dark at my disposal a necessary evil?
Must I embrace the pollution inside me in order to survive?

I can’t believe what I am becoming, caught inside this vortex
These Empty hearts are all that surround me, cannot resist your dark penetration.
The pain inside, this rage overflowing, is beyond my control now
Becoming one with the shadow
